Project Description

Summary: The gentrification dataset covers the period from 1970-2019. It uses a repeated-interval framework to identify whether tracts were eligible to gentrify at the beginning of a period and whether they subsequently show indications of gentrification by the end of the period. Eligibility and gentrification are measured using tract population, median household income, median home value, and educational attainment. Comparisons are made within metropolitan areas, and only central city neighborhoods are considered in the final gentrification classification. Full methodology is in: Mitchell, B.
