Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary This dataset represents city-level panel data spanning 2012-2024, designed to explore the impact of digital infrastructure development policies on entrepreneurial activities in urban new tourism sectors. After screening, it includes 297 Chinese prefecture-level cities. The empirical data derive from three main sources: First, we used Python crawler software to collect entrepreneurial activity data from Tianyancha and Qichacha—two leading Chinese business data platforms that integrate government databases including China Judgments Online and the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System. These platforms have been extensively applied in economics and management research with proven reliability. Second, the list of cities implementing the Broadband China pilot program comes from MIIT-published pilot city documents. Third, control variables covering economic, financial, education, consumption, industrial, postal infrastructure, and communication levels are sourced from platforms such as EPS data, the China Urban Construction Statistical Yearbook, and the China Urban Statistical Yearbook (2013–2022), with missing values filled through linear interpolation.
