Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary We use American Community Survey data to test for impacts of identity-centric products on the earnings of workers of product-congruent identities. Specifically, we use ordinary least squares and instrumental variables two-stage least squares regressions to estimate effects of the presence of women’s sports teams and women’s colleges on the earnings of local women working in sports and education. We find that the presence of identity-centric products significantly increases the earnings of women working in sports and education. These findings suggest that identity-centric organizations can play a role in improving labor market outcomes for workers of product-congruent identities.
