This spreadsheet contains weekly data on
the Balance Sheets of the Issue and Banking Departments of the Bank of
England between 1844 and 2006. This
augments the annual data on the
consolidated balance sheet of the Bank which is also available on the
Bank's website. The weekly balance
sheets allow higher frequency analysis
of the movements in the assets and liabilities of the Bank which is important
when looking at historical financial crises which may be concentrated in a
particular week or month.
