Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary Supplementary deposit of HMDA data from public websites of the vintage used in Guren and Greenwald (2025) "Do Credit Conditions Move House Prices" (AER).

Readme: 
The data for 1990-2014 can be found at the National Archives at https://catalog.archives.gov/id/2456161. We use the Ultimate Loan Application Register files. This data was accessed in June 2013 for 1990-2013 and March 2017 for 2014.
While the original page providing data access has changed since we obtained our data, data for 2015-2016 should be available through an archived link at https://web.archive.org/web/20250310032013/https://www.ffiec.gov/Hmda/hmdaflat.htm we use the LAR ALL datasets. Alternatively, the same data may be available from a current website via https://www.consumerfinance.gov/data-research/hmda/historic-data/. This data was accessed in August 2015 and August 2016.
The data for 2017 is available from the CFPB at https://ffiec.cfpb.gov/data-publication/dynamic-national-loan-level-dataset/2017. This data was accessed in April 2023.
