This repository contains the data and replication files for Jiang and
Weber (2024)[1]
who provide data on 173 Technology Transfer Agreements signed between
U.S. firms and the Soviet Union during the interwar period, along with
locations of the signing firm (for 139 agreements) and the year each firm signed
(for 131 agreements). This data is available both as individual agreements (listing the city each signing firm was located in) and as county-level aggregates which are then matched to demographic data from the 1930 Census and data on bank failures from the FDIC for the period 1920 to 1936 to form a yearly panel dataset used for the analysis in the paper.
