Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary This research and development study aimed to examine health safety and security situations, establish an advancement model, and evaluate the outcomes associated with  health-driven safety and security for partial activities of daily living (ADL-2) in older adults who live independently.  Participants included 377 older adults in the two settings using cluster random sampling and 15 experts who worked in various community settings in Lampang Province, Thailand, between April to August 2023. The developed model included the Older Adult Safety and Security Questionnaires (OA-SQs) and the framework of health-driven safety and security.  It was evaluated in the pre-post longitudinal study and, qualitative focus group discussions to gather feedback on the developed model.             The developed model consisted of 1) analyzing the situation context, 2) developing a model and framework, 3) utilizing a developed model, and 4) evaluating model effectiveness. Before and after using the model for sixth months, the average overall health safety and security of the participants after the experiment was higher than before was statistically significant at the level of .05 and 95% confidence intervals. Knowledge of living security was at an average level. Older adults desire to continually develop self-care knowledge to be independent and maintain their current health conditions.  Healthcare providers, along with government agencies, local communities, and private organizations, prioritize health and safety measures for older adults living independently to improve their quality of life
