Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary The decision-making mechanism of the ownership structure design of overseas subsidiaries has long been a focal topic in international business research, whereas the impact of the parent company's digital transformation on such design is scarcely addressed in current literature. Based on the "technology-market" perspective and the theory of liabilities of foreignness, this study analyzes the impact of technology digital transformation and business digital transformation on the ownership structure design of overseas subsidiaries, and the moderating role of slack resources. The results indicate that technology digital transformation and business digital transformation are U-shaped related to the parent company's shareholding ratio in overseas subsidiaries. In addition, slack resources play a significant negative role in the relationship between the parent company's digital transformation and the ownership structure design of foreign subsidiaries. We reveal the mechanism and boundary conditions of different types of the parent company's digital transformation on the ownership structure design of overseas subsidiaries and also provide empirical evidence for parent companies to rationally design the ownership structure of overseas subsidiaries in the digital age.
