Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary In addition to the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), the survey covers items viewed by three experts in gerotological field interests of older adults' security perspectives.  The factor items cover the areas of "Human Security" developed by UNDP, including economic security, health security, personal security, political security, food security, environmental security, and community security.  The questionnaries have been divided into two parts: socioeconomic data and 7-items of security.  The major objective of the project was to identify the older adults' security perspectives on security in real-world practical settings.  SPSS and AMOS programs were used to collect for a model that fit an older adult's security.  The survey was administered from June 2021 to March 2022 to a preferred sample of older adults aged 60 or over who had resided in the sampling setting for at least two years.

Methodology

Response Rate:  View help for Response Rate For part 2 (Older Adult's Security Qeustionnarie [OA-SQ]), 487 participants were contacted for the individual survey as a face-to-face survey.  Of these contaracts, only one was ineligible to participate becuase participants reported feeling uncomfortable talking with the security during the interview.  The responses rate for the survey of part 1 (sociodemographic data) was 95 percent.  Response rate for Part 2 (Older Adult's security perspectives) were 98 percent. 
Sampling:  View help for Sampling Using cluster sampling with a confidence level of 95% and an error margin of 5%, the G* power algorithm calculated that at least 380 participants will be recruited from a province in northern Thailand containing 177,944 individuals.
