Organized leisure time activities have a great influence on different aspects of
children’s life and development. These aspects include their emotional and
social development, and their academic performance and achievement. Through these data, we
focused on the impact that organized leisure activities have on academic
performance. Additionally, we incorporated the COVID-19 pandemic factor in the
investigation, as it covers two academic years corresponding to the periods
before and after the start of the pandemic. The results revealed
that participating in academic and artistic activities had a direct impact on
the marks that the school-age children obtained while the other leisure
types had a limited effect. With the focus
on leisure, the study’s results could provide the educational agents with
useful information for enhancing students’ academic performance.
