This dataset is a research conducted in a rural district of Ghana, involving caregivers of children under-five. The study ended in 2016. The study employed the use of a mobile phone-based electronic health information and surveillance system (eHISS) for monitoring disease disease symptoms of children under-five. The dataset contained information on the sociodemographic characteristics of the study participants, symptom data (including fever, cough, diarrhoea, etc) and follow-up data (obtained from health records).

The response rate was 98% (of the total 1446 caregivers with children under-five).
Sampling:

A cross-sectional survey was conducted in randomly selected communities to recruit and interview caregivers using a structured questionnaire.
Data Source:

The first source of data were obtained from a cross-sectional study which describes the characteristics f the study participants. The second, from the database of an IVR system. The system was designed to interact with caregivers and automatically capture the voice responses provided by caregivers in text format.
