Project Description

Summary:  View help for Summary The clinical condition known as dementia is characterized by the loss of many cognitive abilities, particularly memory, over time. Despite extensive research on the effects of aerobic exercise on dementia, other forms of exercise such as balance exercises have not received the same level of attention. Therefore, our study investigated the acute effects of balance, aerobic and combined exercise interventions on dementia. Thirty-one participants aged 65-90 years with mild to moderate dementia were divided into three exercise groups: aerobic, balance and combined. Reaction times and visual memory were assessed before and after one session of exercise. Data were obtained from patients with dementia staying in 2 nursing homes in Ankara, Turkey in July 2023. This dataset may be useful for researchers studying the effects of different exercise interventions on dementia and examining the acute effects of exercise on dementia.
