Folder Description

Summary:  View help for Summary This dataset includes data from the second wave, conducted in Fall 2009.  The survey included longitudinal questions about belief in climate change, plus additional content related to support for state and/or federal policies to address climate change, willingness to pay for emissions reductions, and more. Results are based on responses from 988 adult residents of the United States collected between September 21, 2009 - November 24, 2009. The margin of error for the survey is ±3% at a 95% level of confidence. In 2009, for the first time, both landlines and cell phones were sampled.

Interviews were conducted by the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The 2009 survey instrument was designed by Barry Rabe of the University of Michigan and Christopher Borick of Muhlenberg College. The 2009 survey was funded by the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion.

Versions
  • Original openICPSR Release: 5/9/2016
  • Version 2 7/14/2017: Dataset updated to include values for demog_state (masked in Version 1), and the original values for demog_relig (recoded in Version 1). A few values of demog_state_region were recoded. The weight factor variables AgeWeight, GenWeight, EdWeight, and RaceWeight were dropped from the dataset. The variable state_vehicles_1 was renamed to state_vehicles_v1 and a few variable labels were standardized to match other waves of the NSEE to facilitate longitudinal analysis.
